Terms of Use
1. Purpose
Per-Ankh is a personal web application for learning ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs through spaced repetition, along with grammar and reading concepts. These terms govern the use of the per-ankh.xyz site and its services.
2. Service description
Per-Ankh offers a sign-by-sign learning path, grammar lessons available from day one, and a reading module (words, phrases, texts) unlocked once every base hieroglyph has been acquired. A free plan and a paid "Unlimited" plan are available, described on the pricing page.
3. User account
Creating an account requires an email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for any activity carried out from your account. The nickname chosen at signup is displayed publicly on the leaderboard.
4. Subscription and payment
The "Unlimited" plan is a monthly subscription, billed and managed via Stripe. It renews automatically each month until cancelled. Per-Ankh never stores any bank card data — this is handled exclusively by Stripe.
5. Cancellation and refunds
You may request cancellation of your subscription at any time by writing to support@per-ankh.xyz. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no pro-rated refund is issued for the period already paid, except in exceptional circumstances reviewed case by case.
6. Intellectual property
The Per-Ankh name, its interface, source code, and original educational content are the exclusive property of their author. Hieroglyph data (transliterations, meanings) draws on public and research sources (notably Wiktionary and Wikipedia), verified and adapted for educational use.
7. Liability
The service is provided "as is", with no guarantee of continuous availability or absence of errors. Per-Ankh is a personal learning tool and does not constitute an academic or professional certification in Egyptology.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the French courts.
Privacy Policy
1. General principle
Per-Ankh collects only the data necessary to operate the learning service. No data is sold or shared for advertising purposes.
2. Data collected
Email address and password (securely managed by Supabase Auth), nickname (displayed publicly on the leaderboard), learning progress (hieroglyphs acquired, XP, day streak, review dates), and subscription status (active or cancelled, with no bank card data).
3. Processors
Supabase (authentication and database, hosted in the European Union, eu-west-1 region), Stripe (payment processing), Cloudflare (site and Workers hosting). Each of these providers processes data strictly on Per-Ankh's behalf, under its own privacy policy.
4. Cookies
Per-Ankh uses only essential technical cookies required for authentication (Supabase session). No advertising cookies and no third-party analytics tool (Google Analytics or equivalent) are used.
5. Data retention
Data is kept for as long as the account remains active. It is deleted when the account is closed, at the user's request to support.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data. To exercise these rights, write to support@per-ankh.xyz.
7. Security
Access to data is protected by HTTPS encryption and by Supabase's Row Level Security rules, ensuring each user can only access their own data.
